The Chicago Postcard Museum is a privately endowed, independent organization devoted to collecting and presenting Chicago history through picture postcard imagery and correspondence. The Grand Opening for the Chicago Postcard Museum was held on November 1, 2007. The Museum holds some very rare Chicago postcards in its collections along with antique, vintage and contemporary postcards. The mission of the Chicago Postcard Museum is to serve as the world's resource for Chicago postcard images and visual history on the Internet and to provide to the general public an archive for research and enjoyment.

The Museum opened the Sunset Theaters on December 1, 2007 with a 12-minute movie of the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition held in Chicago. What make the Chicago Postcard Museum different from other virtual museums? The Chicago Postcard Museum offers the public their postcard images for free.
