Educated and having worked in several countries, Eleanor Thoe Lisney has a multi-cultural and multilingual background. She is fluent in English and conversant in French, Malay and Chinese. She has a Master in Literature from the Open University in Great Britain and a Master of Science in Information Studies from the University of Texas, Austin, United States. She contributed to progressions on disability at the Society for Technical Communication's 51st Annual Conference in Baltimore, 2004. Eleanor worked for the University of Massachusetts before her return to live in France in June 2004. Prior to that, she was the webmaster of the previous Texas Folklife Resources website. She has researched the differences in disability culture between Europe and the United States and has an interest in website accessibility and usability. She has also been involved in the UI Garden Forum, a bilingual (Chinese and English) user interface design online magazine. She has previously presented on web accessibility and gender issues at the 2005 Museums and the Web conference. Currently Eleanor is working at Coventry University as the relationship manager of E-Source, a learning object repository with serving the West Midlands in the United Kingdom.
