The Herbert Art Gallery and Museum is in Coventry, England, situated cheek by jowl to the Cathedral and Coventry University. It is part of the Arts and Heritage Service of Coventry City Council.
Its construction was bestowed by Sir Alfred Herbert, a local industrialist who founded Alfred Herbert Limited, at one time the world's largest machine toolmaking company. His donation of £100,000 to the City of Coventry allowed building work to start in 1939.
